I’m Kaylah Burton, a full-time fashion media creative by day and the fashion blogger behind StyleMeTwice.com.

Amandla Stenberg was recently quoted saying, “It’s a tiny revolution to express yourself fully and be who you want to be, especially when systems tell you that you can’t.”

I think that this statement speaks to navigating through all aspects of life as a woman of color.  Just being bold enough to express myself, my style and being unapologetically proud of my blackness and the beauty that comes with it means that I’m constantly defying society’s typical beauty standards just by expressing myself fully everyday. That’s revolutionary.

Kaylah Burton1What inspires your style?

My style is inspired by everything around me. I am constantly finding inspirations everywhere, from high fashion sources to NYC street style. My style has so many personalities and I love finding new ways to express different parts of myself with inspirations from just about everywhere.

What are your go-to beauty products?

I am a huge fan of the five minute face, so I love products that give me a fresh face in just a few minutes flat. I love bare minerals foundation in Medium Tan, it’s such a light foundation with a flawless finish! Too-faced’s Sun Bunny foundation is perfect for all skin tones and packs that perfect sun kissed glow. To top it off, I can’t go without a fierce lip. To keep my hair in check, I’m loving all-things Jane Carter Solutions.

What makes you feel most beautiful?

Being around other beautiful people! I feel most beautiful and free when I’m around people who empower me to be a better, more beautiful version of myself.

My twenties have certainly been a time for growth and reflection and a time where I’m learning to embrace all of the parts of me. Being bold in my voice and my style have come with time –  I’m still growing and evolving, but I love that I’m becoming a better me everyday and not only being comfortable in my skin, but loving every part of who I am!
