Hey! I write the blog, PrettyPlusPep. A blog designed to cover fashion for today’s plus size woman. My mission is to show plus size women of all ages they too can look as fabulous as their favorite celebrity or as corporate mogul without spending tons of money and with minimal effort. I like to reach beyond fashion’s mainstream concept of trendy looks by mixing priceless vintage pieces with modern classics.
How do you defy society’s typical beauty standards?
It has been my experience with society’s typical beauty as being one who is the complete opposite of everything that I am. I’m sure you have heard the story about the little fat girl being bullied in school as a young girl, or the one where no one wanted to vote for you in high school as homecoming queen or that one time the geeky girl could have gotten the guy, but was turned down because of her complexion or size. They all sound pretty familiar right? These were just clips of my past life, a life I learned to forgive and began love myself for the beautiful woman I am now. Society’s standard will always be there, I just know I have a world of my own and in it I’m perfect.
What inspires your style?
Everything. I love watching old movies from the 50’s and 60’s. I was totally into the fashion of Mad Man with the midi skirts and tight cardigans. Sex and The City also had a big part in my style inspiration. I love being a girl and showing it with feminine touch throughout my outfits.
What are your go-to beauty products?
My all-time favorite beauty product is Noxzema. I’ve been using it for 23 years now. It really is everything I need in a beauty product. Every night I use it as a cream makeup remover and once, as a shaving cream for my legs and weekly as a deep cleansing mask. I also use olive oil and Aveeno Night Crème.
Would you say you’re 100% comfortable in your own skin at this point in your life?
I don’t think I will ever be 100% but I can be about 92.99999%.
Are you now the woman you’ve always wanted to be?
Not quite yet, but I’ve promised myself to never give up on myself until I am.
