I’m Zoé Zeigler, a NYC-based style & beauty blogger and marketing manager.
How do you defy society’s typical beauty standards?
I can’t say I sit around thinking about defying beauty standards. I don’t focus on conforming or not conforming. I just try to focus on what makes me feel the most confident and authentic, and embracing whatever that is.
What inspires your style?
I tend to take style inspiration from the streets of NYC as well as from my travels around the world.
I love how in NYC great style not just about copying what’s on the runways or in magazines. Rather it’s about creating a style trademark that’s all your own—whether you’re shopping at designer stores or thrift stores.
And after visiting Africa in 2013 and 2014, I also really love incorporating African prints with contemporary flair into my wardrobe.
What are your go-to beauty products?
Makeup-wise, I’d have to say MAC eyebrow pencil and lipsticks are always my go-to items. For my skin, especially in the dry winter, Oyin Handmade Whipped Shea Butter is the best. And for my hair, I usually wear wash & gos, so Cantu Shea Butter Curl Activator Cream or Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie are always on my shelf.
Absolutely. I mean I think everyone, no matter how confident they are, struggles with insecurities every so often. And that’s totally normal. But, I’m grateful for all the curls, kinks, curves and color God gave me, and I wouldn’t change them for anything.
