Real Beauty Moment: Makeup, Skincare, and Colorism

Makeup & Skincare

The greatest advice I’ve gotten from a friend of mine who is a make up artist. She told me never wear lipstick without a liner.

I definitely had to overcome acne. I dealt with that for many many years. I really don’t even know how I got rid of it. I used Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Wash. So that works best for me.   I’ve been using that for 10 years. Finding foundation was one of the most difficult things i’ve ever done. MAC was good but it was difficult with the oily situation. They had the right tone but I constantly had to put on the blotting powder, which I didn’t like.

With CoverGirl I used to have to mix shades to get the right shades. Then finally my friend told me about Covergirl 3 in 1, so it’s a power, foundation, and a primer, which I’m wearing now. My face never shines.

Colorism

A lot of my tags on instagram are chocolate girl. In the past I used to be a little self conscious about my complexion because most of my friends have lighter skin tones and it always seemed like the guys were more attracted to them. But now that I’m older I’m a lot more comfortable in my own skin and I love love love being dark skinned.
