How do you defy society’s typical beauty standards?
I challenge the conventional standards of beauty just by merely existing–in other words, my features fall outside the traditional notions of beauty. As a result, the subculture beauty is forced to create an all inclusive space (internally and externally) where she is represented and celebrated for being other.
What inspires your style?
I consider my style inspiration to be Blaxploitation meets old Hollywood infused with African traditional culture.
What are your go-to beauty products?
My go to beauty products are the common household grocery items such as honey, strawberries, and lemons. Other staples include dead sea salt, red clay and tamanu seed oil.
Would you say you’re 100% comfortable in your own skin at this point in your life? How so or why not?
At this point in my life, I am very comfortable in my own skin because I have a clear understanding of self and my abilities. I no longer feel the need to seek external validation to reinforce internal self-worth.
