I’ve done gymnastics my whole life, so I went to the gym that Dominique Dawes went to in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Being the only African American on my team since I was 3-years-old, just being comfortable in my own skin and having judges judge me was something I had to overcome—I was home schooled, so a lot of things I had to overcome.
I’m in New York for school. I’m done with gymnastics. I go to LIM college.
Tia and Tamera, I absolutely love them, Zoe Saldana, only because her shape and her body she feels good with herself and I’m a similar shape as her. Being really skinny and tall and kind of awkward is something I can relate to…and obviously Beyonce.
My mother empowers me. She is a single mom and she has gotten me through home school, private school, paid for my tuition for college, having me living here living out my dreams, so she definitely empowers me—she and my grandmother.
