Real Beauty Moment: Braids Are Not ‘Ghetto’



I had to overcome the fear of wearing braids [in public]. I felt like if I wear braids outside I would look stereotypical and I would look “ghetto.”  So I had to overcome that recently since it became a “trend.” I was like, ‘this is not a trend, we’ve been doing it for so long.’  I just had to retake our “trend” back and show how it’s really done.

Who empowers you

My mom empowers me. She’s the most fearless driven woman I know and she encourages me to do everything that I do today.
