The Met Gala went down tonight and several #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful stars came out to turn heads. This year’s theme is “Manus x Machina,” which explores how technology influences fashion.
Ciara did the theme justice in this embellished H&M gown and platinum wig.
Solange never disappoints. This bright yellow David LaPort dress was spot on.
Zoe Kravitz looked cool and almost unrecognizable in Valentino.
Beyonce went for her signature curve hugging look with this latex Givenchy gown.
Lupita Nyong’o turned heads in this gorgeous Calvin Klein dress. Her hair was also a sight to behold. The only problem was, she seemed to get lost in the crowd in most of her red carpet photos. We’re not sure why. The color stands out and the hair certainly does. Can we blame this on the photographers?
Nicki Minaj wore Moschino.
Jennifer Hudson floated in on a cloud! Well actually, like Ciara, she turned to H&M for her gown.
Amandla Stenberg wore this plum Calvin Klein suit.
Aja Naomi King didn’t do much to honor the theme, but she looked beautiful nonetheless.
FKA Twigs gave us all leg in this Atelier Versace number.
Kerry Washington showed off her baby bump in a black Marc Jacobs gown and purple hair. Congrats Kerry!
Lala Anthony looked cool in Public School.
Zendaya shut it down in this simple yet gorgeous Michael Kors Collection gown. Her hair was perfect too. Love it!
Willow Smith and Jaden Smith stuck to the brands they endorse–Chanel and Louis Vuitton respectively. Sadly, Willow’s look did little to compliment her youthful edge. In fact, it aged her. As a young woman who usually does well with “futuristic” looks, this could have been a shining moment for her. Instead, she looked like a little girl playing dress up rather than the face of a major fashion house. Jaden’s look was a tad better, but still looked too mature.
Naomi Campbell looked her usual super model self.
Misty Copeland kept things a bit too simple. It would have been nice to see her in all black, a dark smokey eye, and a stiff ballet tutu, but that might have been too literal for her.
Will.i.am embodied the theme like no other.
The stars of the Netflix series, The Get Down came looking so dope.
Zoe Saldana went full on dramatic in a strapless Dolce and Gabbana gown. Nice!
