Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae Shine Bright As Black Mathematicians In Trailer For ‘Hidden Figures’

There’s nothing better than seeing black women shine on the big screen.  Especially when the roles are inspiring, dynamic, and pure magic.


Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae have set off a wave of inspiration with the release of the trailer for Hidden Figures, an upcoming film that depicts the lives of three mathematicians who were instrumental in providing NASA with the necessary data to launch John Glenn into orbit.  It was the country’s first space mission.

HiddenFigures2Taraji plays the role of Katherine Johnson, a genius math scholar who calculated rocket trajectories for the Apollo trips to the moon and other spaceflights. Octavia stars as Dorothy Vaughan, Katherine’s supervisor, while Ms. Monae plays Mary Jackson, a NASA engineer.HiddenFigures3
