Color, hemlines, prints: Boston Fashion Week offered plenty of designers who stuck to their signature and game-changing looks for spring/summer 2017.

September 23rd through the 30th marked the 21st annual BFW, which kicked off with opening night at Aloft Boston Seaport hosted by “America’s Next Top Model” winner Eva Marcille. The event, presented by Anna Foster’s A Maven’s World Lifestyle Brand, featured runway and trunk shows with various brands, a makeup bar, and a live band.  Organizers of BFW were also paying tribute to Bill Cunningham by encouraging fashionistas to go #BLUE4BILL at events.

Beyond Classically Beautiful caught up with Anna Foster at the fashion show  to talk about the success of hosting BFW for the third consecutive year and her brand.

Talk about the lead up to opening night with “America’s Next Top Model” Eva Marcille. 

It was quite interesting, to say the least. We normally plan events 6-9 months and this was not different; however, it involved a lot more components, other brands/designers and new ideas.

So, it was a lot of hard work to bring the night together! But I love it. It’s my passion and it was an amazing night.

Maven’s world is a lifestyle brand; what type of work do you do and what brands do you represent? 

Yes, we are a lifestyle brand. Our mission is to connect people and empower lives. Our Affiliate number varies, however; we normally represent between 40-60 brands and they range in sizes. Some of them can be found under the Affiliate section of our website amavensworld.com and we create awesome events for them, like opening night fashion week.

We’re very excited about all the businesses that are here being represented, as far as the designers on stage, but also the vendors that are here being represented. We have over 400 people at opening night, it’s a great place to connect with people.

As a radio host, business entrepreneur and style maven, where do you learn to find the balance between work and family life?

Being a wife and mom keeps me focus. My personal and professional life is already pretty much designed for me organically. Most of my external work, meetings, etc., I take during the mornings. I like to be home with my family and attend to their needs late afternoon and evenings.  I’m very structured and focused, so I’m able to accomplish more and I don’t allow for many distractions.

 

Where do you draw your creative inspirations for your fashion? 

I love unique, but functional pieces that make a statement! I think it’s important, especially as women, to stay fashionably chic and still be able to get things done. So the inspiration comes from functionality.

 

Tell us about the dress you wore at opening night of fashion week. 

My dress was so amazing, I enjoyed wearing it. It’s from one of our Affiliate businesses, Tasha Michelle’s Kloset, a boutique in Boston, MA. I received a ton of compliments on it, so it’s great marketing for her brand.

What is the best part about your job?

Changing people’s lives daily, giving them hope and assisting in vision expansion.
